The FMA communities of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Province of Shillong joined the Universal Church in celebrating the 60^th World Communications Day on 17 May 2026 in their respective communities. Under the guidance of the Social Communication Team, the theme, “Preserving Human Voices and Faces” was lived meaningfully through the creative expression of the Appreciation Wall coupled with a call to authentic human connection and meaningful prayer moments.

At the heart of the day’s activities was the Appreciation Wall, set up in communities throughout the Province. Sisters, Candidates, and Boarders were invited to write handwritten thank-you notes to one another, affixing them to a shared board as a tangible, personal expression of the day’s theme. The walls filled with warm words of gratitude, becoming a visible testimony to the bonds of community life and the irreplaceable value of every voice and face within it. Local Media Coordinators in each community took photographs of their completed Appreciation Walls and submitted them to the Social Communication Team. The images were gathered into a provincial collection and shared on the province’s official Facebook page, weaving together the voices of every participating community into a single, joyful record of the celebration.

The day was also marked by prayerful celebration. The Social Communication Team had distributed a Prayer Animation package ahead of the occasion, comprising a Morning Prayer, an Introduction before Mass, and an Evening Prayer composed specifically for 17 May 2026. These resources guided communities through a liturgical observance that gave spiritual depth to the day’s activities, grounding the theme of human communication in faith and gratitude.

The Holy Father’s message for the occasion was also shared with all communities, offering reflection and inspiration for the celebration. The Social Communication Team expressed its gratitude to all Local Media Coordinators and community members whose collaboration and creativity made the day a grand success.
