A two day workshop was conducted for heads of Institutions and those in charge of the boarding homes from January 8 – 9, 2014 at Bellefonte Shillong. It was organized by the Education Department of the Province and was attended by 58 participants.

The resource person of the programme was Mrs. Salony Priya, Founder director – UMEED- Positive Liviing Initiative, Kolkata where she empowers, enables and energizes people through workshops, individualized sessions and therapies. A Counselling Psychologist, Educational consultant and Human Resource Trainer and has a wide range of experience in her specialization now for seventeen years. Her interventions have reached out to several organizations.

The topics dealt with during the workshop were Leadership, Understanding challenges in Education, Teaching and Learning, Adolescent Issues, Emotional needs of children, Art of giving Feedback and Positive motivation to students.

The resource person has brought home many lessons through role play, games, interaction, group discussion, power point presentation and narration.

One of the participants remarked, “I have now learned how to catch the young when they do right and not when they do wrong”.
