Students’ Retreat at Auxilium Shillong

A Spiritual Retreat was organized for the Catholic students of Auxilium Girls’ Higher Secondary School Nongthymmai Shillong from 10 – 12 July 2015 in the school campus. The girls who took part in the retreat are of the age group of 14 to 18.

It began in the evening of 10th July at 5.30 with the general instruction and reading out of the time table by Sr. Albrida Pyngrope the Principal, Sr. Elizabeth the animator of the community gave a short welcome address followed by an inaugural prayer animation by Sr. Theresa Phawa and the   prayer of the Holy Rosary, supper, recreation, good night message by Sr. Elizabeth Thannimothil soon after they watched   a film ‘The stoning of Sorayam’.

The next day began with a prayer moment beautifully animated by Sr. Euginia Laloo, on the theme “How great is our God” the students took part   in it wholeheartedly, praising and thanking God spontaneously,  Sr. Theresa Phawa and  Fr. James Thyrniang Sdb  took care of the morning sessions. The former spoke on “ Why do we need to pray” and the latter on the theme  “Learning from Nature” which was followed by the Holy Eucharistic celebration. In the afternoon Sr. Joplin Suchiang spoke on “reconciliation”  and prepared the students for the sacrament of Reconciliation which followed soon after. Four priests came to help in the administration of the same. The students were happy to get this grace of encountering the Lord having prepared themselves well through the general examination of conscience.

On the last day the Morning Prayer was animated by Sr. Albrida Pyngngope who invited everyone to thank the Lord for the opportunity to pray together and the many blessings received. Fr. Mathew Payappilly SDB animated the students for the whole day     and concluded with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. After lunch, and short recreation the students met together again in the hall to express their gratitude to the community sisters and the teachers who helped them to have a God experience in a very tangible   way during the past two days.
