On 17th of June 2016, the Sisters, Teachers and Students of Sacred Heart Girls’ Higher Secondary School, marched as pilgrims to the shrine of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at Mawlai. The Mornesian Club of the school animated the pilgrimage. The students from Classes V to Class XII took part fervently in this act of love to Jesus.
The pilgrimage started with the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy led by some teachers of the school and they walked in procession from the school campus to the Shrine. At each decade some intentions were placed and the rosary continued till the students settled inside the Church. Rev. Fr. James Thyrniang SDB, Provincial Economer of Silchar Province animated the students and celebrated the Holy Eucharist for us. In his speech he motivated the children on the value of mercy and performing merciful deeds for all especially those we love less. He cited live examples from his experiences and urged the students to be more merciful in many ways especially during this year of Mercy. He stressed that mercy is not only in giving financial help or corporal help but we can do a lot with spiritual works of mercy. The students were very attentive and alive all through his talk and sermon.
Prior to the pilgrimage the Sacrament of Reconciliation was made available for the Catholic students and teachers. The students and teachers thanked Sr. Lydia Pala, the Principal all the Sisters for organizing such an unforgettable programme. It was a touching moments for all.
