The 26th day of October 2013 resonated joy and exuberance at Auxilium Provincial House as the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Shillong Province celebrated the Diamond Years of its existence.
60 years is indeed a landmark to take note of God’s fidelity and blessing and a fitting occasion to celebrate. The day was blessed with the presence of Sr. Lucy Rose Ozhukayil, General Visiting Councillor , Sr. Marie Vazhapilly, the 5th Provincial of INS Province from Bangalore Province, Sr. Elizabeth George, the Provincial of ING Province, sisters representatives from the Provinces of Guwahati, Mumbai and Bangalore amidst the energetic and dynamic sisters, candidates, collaborators and young people of the INS Province.
“Now is the best time to rekindle the fire” the theme of the Diamond Jubilee was beautifully commented at the introduction to the Holy Eucharist. Sr. Lucy Rose carried a symbol of the blazing fire to the altar signifying the theme. A group of young people in the traditional attire of the different tribes of INS Province comprising of the states of Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram and Assam led the 60 FMAs representing the 60 years of the Province and the celebrants to the sacred altar. Fr. John Madur the Vicar General of the Shillong Archdiocese, Fr. George Maliekal, the Salesian Provincial of INS Province and a good number of priests celebrated the solemn Eucharistic celebration. The afternoon programme brought together every person gathered at Auxilium to tap their feet to the rthymic sound of jubilation as the Jubilee Anthem by the Choir of St. Mary Mazzarello Convent set the tone of the mega event. The theme of the celebration was beautifully enacted and creatively presented that winged our gaze back to the year 1923 when our first pioneering missionaries set their foot on our land.
