Auxilium Youth Movement Meet 2012

The Province of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Shillong, India organised an Auxilium Youth Meet- at Auxilium, Shillong on September 2, 2012 on the occasion of the visit of Sr. Maria Del Carmen Canales FMA, General Councillor for Youth Pastoral along with Sr. Elena Rastello FMA, her collaborator. The theme of the day was “Love Never Gives Up” 1 Cor 13, 7. The day began with the Prayer moment invoking God’s presence and thanking him for his goodness and blessings.

The Chief Guest, Sr. Maria Del Carmen Canales, General Councillor for Youth Pastoral was warmly welcomed and felicitated by the young people from the different parts of the Province. She was accompanied by Sr. Elena Rastello, her collaborator, Sr. Isabella Suja, Provincial and Sr. Rosa Pyngrope, former Provincial to the dias. The former hoisted the AYM flag amidst the thunderous applause and the movements of the young people to the lively rhythm of the theme song “We are here for God…”

Sr. Isabella, Provincial introduced our guests in her words of welcome expressing her unspeakable joy to have them in our midst on such an auspicious occasion. Sr. Canales then addressed the gathering of young people. She exclaimed with great joy to witness the presence of many young people ready to dedicate themselves for a good cause. Quoting the theme of the event “Love never gives up”, Sr. Canales posed them with a challenging question “What type of love do you seek?” She exhorted them to seek genuine love that is manifested in Jesus Christ, the source of all love.

Centering the celebration on Christ, the Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Paul Ophindro Lyngkot SDB, Vice Provincial of Silchar Province. In his homily, Fr. Paul stressed on the love of Christ for us and how we too ought to respond to this love.

The afternoon programme was marked by the colourful display of some of the dances from the Northeastern states specially from our area of work by the students of our different schools. At the end of the cultural programme, the young people danced to the tune of the theme song and other short songs along with the revered guests.
