The 37th Annual Provincial Congress cum Bicentenary Celebration of the Association of Salesian Cooperators Shillong Province commenced today the 5th September 2015 at Divine Saviour Parish Hall, Nongthymmai. The annual event of the association is hosted by the Nongthymmai Centre with its head office at Auxilium Convent, Nongthymmai. The participants numbering 255 have come from the 16 centres of the Province.

At the outset the participants gathered outside the hall for the flag hoisting ceremony in which Fr. Festus Shadap SDB, former Salesian Delegate for Salesian Family, Silchar Province was the Chief Guest. The Pre-Aspirants of the Auxilium Nongthymmai with their welcome song and choreography and the Novices from Bellefonte with their prayer dance made the inaugural function very meaningful and solemn. The lighting of the lamp invoked God’s presence and enlightenment as they embarked on the two days of sharing and celebration.

Fr. Edmund Gomes SDB, Parish Priest of Divine Saviour Parish, Nongthymmai exhorted the Cooperators to be a leaven in the world and to give Gospel witness to the society in which they live.
