The Shillong Province rejoiced at the precious gift of vocation to the 15 young girls who on the 7 October 2015 received the Postulants’ Medal at Auxilium Training Centre Saiden – Nongpoh.
The short and meaningful ceremony began with the words of welcome from Sr. Phyllis Bamon, Animator of Saiden community. The fifteen young girls approached the altar with a symbolic gesture of offering an empty vessel, which symbolizes their readiness to be guided and accompanied in their vocational journey. The Word of God chosen for the occasion was on the call of Samuel. It has spurred in them the courage to respond to God’s call as expressed by some of them. The Provincial Superior, Sr. Isabella Suja questioned their motivation of entering the first step to religious life in which they responded in unison their ardent desire of living the charism of Don Bosco and Mother Mazzarello. She then welcomed them to the Postulancy and vested on each of them a medal, which bears the image of Mary Help of Christians and Don Bosco. In her talk the Provincial, exhorted them to be humble and to accept corrections cheerfully. A felicitation programme organized by the twenty-two Aspirants followed the initiation to Postulancy. The Postulants too reciprocated their greetings and gave a thank you song along with a vote of thanks.
Besides the Provincial and Vice Provincial, present for the function were the Sisters from the three communities of Shillong and two other neighbouring communities of the Ribhoi area.
