The day began with the Morning Prayer based on the Chapter theme animated by the Tura Community. Rev. Fr. George Maliekal SDB, Provincial of Silchar Province celebrated the solemn inaugural Holy Eucharist – Mass of the Holy Spirit. The community of Nongthymmai creatively animated the celebration with Sr. Isabella Suja carrying a symbolic Holy Spirit and representatives from the Chapter members carrying the seven gifts and placing them at the side of the altar during the entrance procession.
In his homily Fr. George Maliekal urged us to be opened to the Spirit during these days of grace and celebration. He strongly recommended the members to feel the synergy of coming together as a family and reminded that the Provincial Chapter more than being just a chronicle event is all about making a difference in our communities and Province because the past wounds can now become signs of victory.
The Inaugural Function commenced on time at 08:45 am and was coordinated by Sr. Theresa Phawa. The community of OUWC led us into the sacredness of the celebration with the inaugural prayer which began with a hymn on the chapter theme, ‘Make your home in me’. After the lighting of the lamp by Sr. Isabella Suja, Provincial and President of the Chapter, Sr. Phyllis Bamon and Sr. Rosa Pyngrope, former Provincials, Sr. Gemima Pohrmen, the Chapter Moderator and Sr. Celine Michael representative of the Chapter Members, the passage on the Samaritan woman was enacted by two young sisters from Auxilium, Nongthymmai.
